6-7 center is the first Horned Frog in program history to receive the honor
FORT WORTH – Sedona Prince is firmly among those held in the highest regard at her position ahead of her final college season.
The 6-7 graduate student was one of 20 players chosen to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Lisa Leslie Award, given annually to the nation's top center by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
Originally from Liberty Hill, Texas, Prince became the first Horned Frog in program history to be named to the Lisa Leslie Award watch list.
She was one of five Big 12 players to receive the recognition.
Prince has garnered the accolade in two straight seasons. She was named to the preseason watch list as a fifth year senior at Oregon in 2022-23.
She is averaging 9.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game across 50 appearances for her career.
In 2021-22, Prince led Oregon and ranked fourth in the Pac-12 in field goal percentage (.542) while pulling down a career-high five rebounds per game. She scored in double figures 16 times.
Prince appeared in 19-of-24 games and earned 10 starts over her first full college season as a redshirt sophomore in 2020-21. She led the Ducks in total blocks (29) while ranking third on the squad in points per game (10.4) and rebounds per game (4.0).
The Lisa Leslie Award watch list citation is the second preseason accolade Prince has received in purple and white. She was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team on Oct. 3 as voted on by conference head coaches.
Prince is set to make her Horned Frog debut when TCU stages its season-opener vs. Oral Roberts on Nov. 6.
