Decorated Horseman out of Weatherford, Texas joins the TCU staff
FORT WORTH – TCU director of equestrian Haley Schoolfield announced the hire of Casey Deary as an assistant coach on Tuesday afternoon.
Originally from Texas, Deary grew up riding, training and selling horses which allowed him to grow his training business. In 1996 Deary began competing with his horse "Dusty" in the National Reining Horse Association; today he is ranked #4 in the NRHA Leading Lifetime Riders with earnings over $4,108,352.78.
"We are ecstatic to welcome Casey and the Deary family to TCU," Schoolfield said. "Coach Dukes has built a dynasty with the western side of our squad and we are excited to continue to strengthen and grow our western squad with the addition of Casey."
Deary holds the honor of winning the National Reining Horse Association Futurity three times. First in 2012 on Americanextgunmodel, again in 2015 on Shesouttayourleague and most recently in 2021 on Ten Thirty. Deary achieved the 2022 NRHA Open Futurity Reserve Championship title riding Customize My Dream.
Deary has been one of the few elite riders to qualify and compete in the Run for a Million Competition every year since its inception in 2019. In conjunction with the Run for a Million, Deary and his family have been featured as key roles in the CMT television series The Last Cowboy, produced by Taylor Sheridan. Recently, Deary has achieved four major Reining titles consecutive on the phenomenal horse named Down Right Amazing. They have won the championship titles at the August 2022 Run A Million Shootout Qualifier in Las Vegas, the 2023 American Performance Horseman Reining Championship in Arlington at Globe Life Field, the 2023 National Reining Breeders Classic Open Derby Championship and the 2023 National Reining Horse Association Open Derby Championship.
These accomplishments and other World Championship titles earned in the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association have ranked Deary as one of the top trainers in the Reining Horse industry.
Deary and his wife, Nicole and their four children Wyatt, Owen, Joy and Olivia live in Weatherford, Texas on the Deary Ranch.
