Lau Leads Horned Frogs at Medinah

MEDINAH, Ill. – The expectations were loftier, but Lois Lau lost none of her luster.
Facing a stiff challenge at historic Medinah Country Club, Lau fired a 2-under (142) over 36 holes on Monday on day one of the Illini Invitational in the Chicago suburbs.
Lau is tied for 11th place and sits just three shots off the lead entering Tuesday's final round.
Cool, fall temperatures hovering in the mid-50s failed to slow down the senior. She used two birdies over her first 18 holes to enter the clubhouse at even-par before carding a birdie and an eagle in her final round. Lau has now finished each of her eight completed rounds this fall at par-or-better.
The Horned Frogs shot a 21-over (597) after two rounds of play and sit in 13th place on the leaderboard.
Meagan Winans finished her first two rounds at five-over (149) to claim a share of 51st place. The Oklahoma transfer trimmed her second round score to 74 (+2) on the strength of two birdies.
Sofia Barroso Sa added to her season-long birdie tally in the Windy City, registering a total of seven on the day. Barroso Sa sits at 7-over (151) and is toed for 61st.
Sofie Dimitrova shot an 11-over (155) while Sheridan Clancy concluded the day at 21-over (165).
