*TCU made its first appearance in the College Football Playoff National Championship.
*TCU was just the third team since 1998 to play in a national title game after being unranked in the preseason.
*TCU became the first team from the state of Texas to make the CFP and the first from the Big 12 Conference to play in the CFP National Championship. The Horned Frogs were the first Big 12 team to play for a national title since Texas in 2009.
*TCU tied a program record with its 13 wins this season, equaling the 2010 team that went 13-0 en route to winning the Rose Bowl.
*TCU played in the Los Angeles-area for the first time since defeating Wisconsin, 21-19, in the 2011 Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
*TCU played outside the state of Texas for just the fifth time in 15 games this season.
*A 60-yard completion from Max Duggan to Derius Davis was TCU's 22nd play this season of 50-plus yards, tops in the nation.
*TCU and Georgia met for just the fifth time on the gridiron and first since the 2016 Liberty Bowl.
*TCU scored for the 382nd consecutive game, the second-longest streak in NCAA history. No. 1 is Florida at 436 games (1988-present). The Horned Frogs haven't been blanked since Nov. 16, 1991, at Texas (32-0).
*TCU season captains Steve Avila, Dylan Horton, Quentin Johnston and Dee Winters took part in the coin toss.
*TCU wore a black helmet, white jersey and black pants.

Offense
*Max Duggan made his 43rd career start.
*Duggan's 2-yard scoring run was the 28th of his career, tying him with Jim Swink (1954-56) for sixth all-time at TCU.
*Duggan's 41 touchdowns responsible for (32 passing, 9 rushing) this season place second in TCU history, behind only Trevone Boykin (42, 2104).
*Derius Davis had a team-best five receptions for 101 yards, his first 100-yard receiving game of the season and third of his career.
*Playing in his hometown of Inglewood, Calif., Emari Demercado started at running back in the absence of an injured Kendre Miller and rushed for a team-best 59 yards on 14 carries.
Defense
*Millard Bradford, Jamoi Hodge and Dee Winters tied for the team lead with seven tackles.
*Johnny Hodges and Dylan Horton had tackles for loss.
Special Teams
*Jordy Sandy placed one punt inside the 20, giving him 17 on the year. He is donating $20 to Fort Worth's Hope Center for Autism for every punt inside the 20-yard line and is now at $340 for the season.
