
Celli to Begin Open Championship Thursday

Rising junior earned his place by winning the European Amateur Championship
FORT WORTH – TCU rising junior Filippo Celli will compete at the 150th Open Championship, beginning at 7:37 a.m. CT on Thursday, at the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland.
Celli earned a spot by winning the European Amateur Championship three weeks ago in Parador El Saler, Spain. The Italian is paired up with Richard Bland of England and Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland.
TCU alum Tom Hoge, currently ranked 45th in the world, tees off at 1:41 a.m. CT with Joohyung Kim and Patrick Reed. NBC and the USA Network will have television coverage of the event throughout the week.
Celli played in five tournaments for the Frogs in the Spring after competing in Europe at the Italian Open in September. As a freshman in 2021, Celli led TCU in three tournaments, including the Big 12 Championship, where he tied for sixth.
