
TCU’s Tournament Run Ends Friday

ARLINGTON, Texas – TCU could not overcome a pair of four run innings for Oklahoma State as the Cowboys topped the Horned Frogs 8-4 Friday afternoon in an elimination game at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.
The Rundown
TCU opened up a 3-0 lead after two innings of play. With two on and one out, Kurtis Byrne grounded out to give the Frogs the early lead. A Bobby Goodloe two out single pushed the advantage to 2-0 after one. Garrison Berkley worked a four pitch, two out walk in the second, stole second and scored on an Elijah Nunez single.
Oklahoma State batted around in the third to take a 4-3 lead. A two run home run with one out in the inning made it a one run ballgame. A bases-loaded hit batter tied the game at three and a groundout made it 4-3.
The Horned Frogs wasted little time tying the game in the bottom of the inning. Brayden Taylor led off the frame with a double and scored on a one out Goodloe double.
In the fifth, the first four Cowboys reached and all four scored as Oklahoma State opened up an 8-4 lead. TCU managed just two base runners the remainder of the game.
Caleb Bolden (4-2) took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in two innings of work. He fanned two. Riley Cornelio started and allowed four runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out two.
Stat of the Game:
87 – Augie Mihlbauer made his 87 career appearance. He now sits alone in fifth place all-time at TCU in career appearances. He allowed two hits and struck out two in the outing.
