
TCU Earns Big 12 Postseason Honors

David Roditi named Big 12 Coach of the Year for the fourth time
FORT WORTH -- No. 1 TCU men's tennis received eight postseason honors, the Big 12 conference office announced Thursday. David Roditi was named Big 12 coach of the Year and Juan Carlos Aguilar was named Co-Newcomer of the Year while four Horned Frogs were awarded All-Conference singles honors and two doubles pairs were named All-Conference. The six All-Big 12 selections is tied for the most in program history (2018).
This is the fourth Big 12 Coach of the Year recognition for Roditi and his first since 2017. Roditi helped lead TCU to an undefeated record in Big 12 regular season play (5-0) while tying his record for the most regular season victories (22) originally set back in 2016. Those 22 victories are tied for the most in a single season since 1989.
Aguilar becomes the first Horned Frog to receive the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year honor after posting a 27-13 overall record as a graduate transfer. He was also named to the first-team All-Big 12 singles team and individual conference champion for No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles, alongside Pedro Vives.
Luc Fomba and Sander Jong round out the first team All-Singles team for TCU. It is the second first team honor for Fomba and the first for Jong. Jong led TCU with 19 singles wins this season (19-4) with Fomba posting a 14-4 record, including a team-best eight wins over ranked opponents. Jake Fearnley was named to the second team, his first All-Conference award.
TCU's top two doubles pairings each received all-conference nods, with Fomba/Fearnley achieving first-team status while Jong and Lui Maxted were named to the second team. Fomba becomes the first Horned Frog to earn first-team singles and doubles honors in consecutive seasons since Nick Chappell (2014-16).
The Horned Frogs await their fate in the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is set to take place on Monday, May 2, at 6 p.m..
