Gums, Laussot finish in the top 10
PHOENIX – Two top 10 finishes led the TCU men's golf team as the GCU Invitational wrapped up on Tuesday in Phoenix, Ariz.
The Horned Frogs finished in fourth place after shooting their best round of the tournament on Tuesday, 5-under 279. The 23-team field was unable to complete 36 holes on Monday due to darkness, but completed the round before completing the final 18 on Tuesday at the GCU Golf Course.
Aymeric Laussot shot 5-under 208 and finished tied for seventh place following rounds of 69, 67 and 72.
Joining Laussot in the top 10 was Justin Gums, who finished in ninth with a score of 4-under 209, tying a career-low vs. par. Gums shot at or even par (71) in all three rounds with scores of 70, 71 and 68. In the final round, he made eagle on the par 4 No. 14 hole.
Filippo Celli finished tied for 27th after shooting even-par 213. His final round of 1-under 70 was his best of the tournament.
Brandon Massey finished tied for 46th with a score of 3-over 216. In the second round, he made eagle on the par 5 No. 18 hole. All three rounds were 1-over 72.
Gustav Frimodt also made an eagle on the 18th hole in the third round, which led him to his lowest round of the tournament, 2-under 69.
TCU returns to action April 4-5 at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz.
