The Horned Frogs will play amongst six of the top 11 teams in the country
FORT WORTH – TCU will begin the spring season in Kamuela, Hawaii on Thursday at the Hapuna Golf Course for the 30th Amer Ari Invitational.
Having the fourth toughest schedule in the country currently, the Horned Frogs continue to play with some of the best teams in the nation. Of the 20 teams, five are currently ranked in the top 10 of nationally, including defending national champion Pepperdine and Big 12 teams Oklahoma State and Texas. No. 11 Texas Tech is just outside the top 10.
The Horned Frogs' lineup will be freshman Filippo Celli, junior Jacob Skov Olesen, junior Gustav Frimodt, junior Chris Berzina and senior Thomas Allkins. Senior Justin Gums will join the field as an individual.
The 54-hole tournament will have 18 holes each day and a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. CT. The tournament runs Thursday through Saturday.

THE COURSE – Par 72 | 6,875 yards
Created in 1964 by Robert Trent Jones Sr. on what was once a barren black lava field, the lush fairways at Hapuna Golf Course tumble across seaside cliffs with unfolding ocean and coastal views.
LAST TIME OUT
TCU finished 11th at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate to conclude the fall season. Thomas Allkins recorded his first-career top 10 finish to lead the Frogs with a career-best score of 7-under 209.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
- TCU had competed in Hawaii every season for 30-straight years before COVID-19 ended that streak last season.
- The Amer Ari Invitational changed courses this season. The tournament had used the Waikoloa Kings' Course.
TEAM/PROGRAM NOTES
- Filippo Celli will make his season debut this week after staying home in Italy during the fall semester. Celli was TCU's top finisher at the Big 12 Championship last season.
- With two top 10 finishes, Justin Gums currently ranks 44th in the Bushnell/Golfweek rankings.
- After a competitive fall schedule, TCU's strength of schedule is currently ranked as the fourth strongest in the nation by Bushnell/Golfweek.
- Among the 10 returners are four that played in TCU's postseason run last spring. Jacob Skov Olesen led TCU a team-high four times and was on the PING All-Central Region Team. Gustav Frimodt was Academic All-Big 12 and had 10 rounds of par or better. Aymeric Laussot had eight rounds of par or better. TCU's top finisher at the Big 12 Championship was Filippo Celli who led the Frogs with an average score of 71.77 last season. He won't be available in the fall, but will join the team in the spring.
- TCU has qualified for four of the last six and eight of the last 12 NCAA Championships. TCU has advanced to 18 of the past 31 NCAA Championships since 1991.
- TCU is one of nine programs to finish in the top 20 of the NCAA Championships in five of the last eight seasons. Those programs are Arizona State, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, TCU and Vanderbilt.
- TCU is one of 15 schools to play in the last two NCAA Championships.
- TCU and Clemson are the only two programs to make the last 31 NCAA Regionals with the same head coach. Last season was Clemson head coach Larry Penley's 38th and final season at the school.
- Bill Montigel is in his 42nd season at TCU and his 35th season as the head coach of TCU men's golf. Associate Head Coach Adrien Mork is in his fifth season at TCU.
