Horned Frogs Drop Tight Contest Against Missouri State, 63-59

FORT WORTH – The TCU women's basketball team found itself in a tightly contested battle, coming out on the short end of a 63-59 contest against Missouri State on Friday evening inside Schollmaier Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
TCU struggled offensively in the first quarter, hitting just three of its 10 shots in the period. However, the Horned Frogs were able to stay within striking distance and trailed just 13-7 through the first 10 minutes.
Missouri State stretched the margin to 20-9 midway through the second quarter before TCU closed the gap after a layup by Emily Fisher to pull the Horned Frogs within two at the break, 26-24.
A back and forth contest would continue through majority of the second half, before the Lady Bears held on for the four-point victory.
Tomi Taiwo had a career night as she finished with 20 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field and also pulled down four rebounds. Fisher recorded double figures in scoring with 10 points and also dished out four assists. Patricia Morris earned a career-high in blocks with six rejections in the game and also added seven points.
As a team, TCU shot .404 percent from the field and .188 percent from behind the 3-point line. The Horned Frogs struggled at the free-throw line converting on just 10 of 25 free throw attempts.
Aniya Thomas led the balanced scoring attack for Missouri State finishing with 15 points. Indya Green recorded a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
