Team Notes
*TCU made its first appearance in the College Football Playoff.
*TCU is the first team from the state of Texas to make the CFP.
*TCU is the first Big 12 Conference member to win a CFP game.
*TCU's 51 points set a program record for a bowl game.
*TCU's six wins over ranked opponents are tied with Tennessee for the national lead.
*Quentin Johnston and Dee Winters were named the game's Most Valuable Players on offense and defense, respectively.
*TCU and Michigan met for the first time on the gridiron.
*TCU played in its first bowl game since the 2018 Cheez-It Bowl, when it defeated Cal 10-7 in overtime in Phoenix.
*TCU improved to 3-0 against Jim Harbaugh, having defeated his Stanford teams in the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
*TCU played outside the state of Texas for just the fourth time this season and first since Oct. 29 at West Virginia.
*TCU improved to 18-16-1 in its bowl history.
*TCU played in its second Fiesta Bowl, having also appeared in the 2010 game against Boise State.
*Thanks to Bud Clark and Dee Winters, TCU had two interception returns for touchdowns for the second time in its last three games. Before this season, TCU's last game with two Pick 6s was in 2009.
*TCU scored for the 381st consecutive game, the second-longest streak in NCAA history. No. 1 is Florida at 436 games (1988-present). The Horned Frogs haven't been blanked since Nov. 16, 1991, at Texas (32-0).
*TCU season captains Steve Avila, Dylan Horton, Quentin Johnston and Dee Winters took part in the coin toss.
*TCU wore a white helmet, white jersey and white pants.
Individual Notes
Offense
*Max Duggan made his 42nd career start. He totaled 282 yards of offense (225 passing, 57 rushing) and four touchdowns (two passing, two rushing).
*Duggan's two 1-yard touchdown runs give him 27 in his career, moving him past teammate Kendre Miller (26) and into a tie with Trevone Boykin (2012-15) for seventh in TCU history.
*Duggan's two touchdown passes pushed him ahead of Boykin (31, 2015) into second-most in a season at TCU with 32. Boykin is also No. 1 with 33 in 2014.
*Duggan now has 73 career touchdown passes, moving him past Andy Dalton (71, 2007-10) into sole possession of second place on TCU's career list. Boykin leads with 86.
*Quentin Johnston had six receptions for 163 yards, his second straight 100-yard game, fourth of the season and ninth of his career.
*Emari Demercado rushed for a career-high 150 yards on 17 carries, including a career long 69-yard run. It was the second 100-yard game of his career.
*Demercado's 1-yard touchdown run was his sixth of the season. He had a total of four rushing scores in his first four seasons at TCU.
*Taye Barber's 6-yard touchdown catch was his fifth of the season and 11th of his career.
*Barber's two catches give him 158 in his career, the most among current Horned Frogs.
*True freshman Jordan Hudson had two receptions for 34 yards. The two catches equal the second-best game of his career.
Defense
*Dee Winters had 3.0 tackles for loss among his seven tackles. He has team-best 14.5 TFLs on the season.
*Winters' 29-yard interception return for a touchdown was his first pick of the season and third of his career.
*Dylan Horton's 4.0 sacks were the most by a Horned Frog since Mat Boesen had a TCU and Big 12 record 5.5 in a 2017 win over Baylor.
*Horton's first sack came on a Michigan 4th-and-goal from the 2 on the game's opening series.
*Horton has a team-best 10.5 sacks on the season.
*Horton also forced a fumble, the second of his career.
*Millard Bradford had a team best and season-high eight tackles, including 2.0 for loss. His career best is 13 tackles at Oklahoma in 2019.
*Bud Clark's team-best fifth interception of the season was returned 41 yards for a touchdown.
*Clark's five picks are the most by a Horned Frog since Ar'Darius Washington had five in 2019.
*Clark also recovered a fumble in the end zone that resulted in a touchback. It was his first career fumble recovery.
*Clark totaled five tackles.
Special Teams
*Griffin Kell's 33-yard field goal made him 17-of-19 on the season and 46-of-58 in his career.
*Jordy Sandy placed one punt inside the 20, giving him 16 on the year. He is donating $20 to Fort Worth's Hope Center for Autism for every punt inside the 20-yard line and is now at $320 for the season.
