Is the ninth player in Big 12 history to receive the milestone four times in a season
IRVING – Audrey Nalls continues to imprint her name on both the TCU and Big 12 record books ahead of the NCAA Tournament.
Nalls was tabbed Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this fall on Tuesday.
She became the lone player in 2022 and just the ninth in Big 12 history to receive the honor four times in a season.
A senior from Waxahachie, Texas, Nalls received the recognition for the week of Nov. 21-27. She guided TCU to a sweep of Oklahoma in the Horned Frogs' regular season finale on Nov. 26, tallying 18 points behind 12 kills, five service aces and a block. Nalls led all players in points, kills and service aces. Nalls' five service aces matched her career high.
Nalls, 6-2, proved invaluable in staking TCU to a 1-0 match lead. She landed six kills and four service aces in the opening frame. The Horned Frogs used a 9-0 run – their largest of the season – to transform a 15-12 deficit into a four-point lead and eventual 25-22 set win. Nalls accounted for five of TCU's points during its decisive run, landing three kills and a pair of aces.
She closed the match by landing three kills apiece in sets two and three.
Nalls' performance on Saturday marked the 18th time she has led TCU in kills and points this season. She has led the Horned Frogs in both categories in 17 of the team's last 19 outings.
Her effort in the Sooner State further erased any doubt as to who the top offensive player in Big 12 play was in 2022. Nalls closed conference play ranked No. 1 in kills (266), kills per set (4.36), points (293) and points per set (4.80). Her 266 kills were 53 more than any player.
Earlier in November, Nalls earned the distinction of being the first player in program history to receive multiple sets of weekly Big 12 accolades in a season. She was crowned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 19-25, Oct. 3-9 and Nov. 7-13.
TCU also joined No. 1 Texas as one of just two programs to garner Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors on five separate occasions. Callie Williams claimed the crown for Oct. 31-Nov. 6, meaning that Tuesday's announcement signifies the third time in the last four weeks the award has made the short drive west to Fort Worth.
Nalls will next be in action when TCU opens the NCAA Tournament vs. No. 25 Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday in Madison, Wisconsin.
