Soccer, swimming and diving and three from football earn honors
FORT WORTH – Football's Taye Barber, Max Duggan, Griffin Kell, soccer's Camryn Lancaster and swimming and diving's Geremia Freri were all named TCU Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Bob's Steak and Chop House.
In football's 29-28 win over Baylor, Baber recorded a team-best five receptions for 108 yards, including three for 31 yards on the pivotal final two drives of the game. He also had a 77-yard reception.
Duggan finished with 377 yards of total offense and two touchdowns against the Bears, including a team-best 50 yards rushing. The senior led TCU on scoring drives on its final two possessions while playing without the team's leading rusher and top-two receivers.
Kell, the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week, kicked the game-winning 40-yard field goal as time expired to give TCU the one-point win at Baylor.
Lancaster scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Michigan State to send TCU to its third consecutive Sweet 16.
Freri broke the school record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:46.70 at the Art Adamson Invitational. He also tied the 200m fly school record with a time of 1:45.88. Overall, Freri finished top five in five different events on the week and was just .04 seconds away from his own record in the 1,000.
