Adams, Clack, Duggan, Ekdahl, Johnston and Kellett honored by TCU
FORT WORTH – Lauren Kellett of soccer, Julia Adams of volleyball, David Ekdahl of Swimming and Diving, Max Duggan, Quintin Johnston, and Bud Clark of football have been named TCU Student-Athletes of the week, presented by Bob's Steak and Chop House.
Kellett, a junior, was named Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week after making three saves against Oklahoma State including two in the second half. She posted her sixth shutout of the season and second straight shutout.
Soccer will travel to Norman, Oklahoma for a matchup against the Sooners on Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Adams, a native of Plano, Texas became the 12th player in TCU volleyball history and just the second in the Horned Frogs' Big 12 era to record 1,000 kills in Saturday's reverse sweep of Kansas State. Adams landed 20 kills on .410 hitting in the win including 13 kills over the final two sets. She has reached 20 kills in two of TCU's last three matches, both of which have translated to wins.
The volleyball team will host Oklahoma in Schollmaier Arena on Friday. The first serve is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
Edkahl, a sophomore out of Sweden, broke the TCU Diving record on the 3-meter with a score of 430.20. Ekdahl also posted the fourth highest score in school-history on the 1-meter with a score of 339.6. He took home gold in the 3-meter and placed second place in the 1-meter, earning Zone cuts in both events.
Swimming and Diving will host Texas A&M on Friday, Nov. 4.
Duggan, a senior from Council Bluffs, Iowa, was named Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Duggan had 343 yards of total offense and three TDs helping the Horned Frogs rally back from a 17-point deficit in the victory. He completed 23-of-40 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns and added 57 rushing yards on 11 carries and a touchdown. His 1-yard scoring run moved him past Andy Dalton (22, 2007-10) and into a tie with Kenneth Davis (1982-85) for eighth in TCU history; Now second all-time in rushing TDs by a TCU QB.
Johnston, a junior, had a team-best eight receptions for 180 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown to give TCU its first lead of the game in the first overtime. He posted his second straight 100-yard receiving game and seventh of his career. Johnston's 180 yards was the second-most in his career.
Clark, a sophomore, was selected by the TCU staff as the program's Defensive Player of the Week. He had a fourth-quarter interception to thwart an OSU scoring threat and set the stage for TCU's comeback. Clark also had two pass breakups to go with a tackle.
Horned Frogs football will host Kansas State in a top 20 matchup on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
