FORT WORTH – A total of 41 TCU student-athletes have been named to the 2020-21 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team.
The 41 Horned Frogs came from 14 of TCU's 21 varsity sports including baseball, beach volleyball, basketball, men's and women's cross country, equestrian, football, golf, rifle, soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's track and field and volleyball.
The Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team was introduced in the 2012-13 academic year to honor the conference's student-athletes for their first-year performances both on the field and in the classroom.
Each student-athlete is nominated by the institution's director of student-athlete support services, and each student-athlete must be a new, first-time/incoming freshmen that has completed at least 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. The student-athlete must also have participated in at least one of their team's scheduled contests and must have been a member of their respective team for their sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
Mariana Akins and Bryce Flynn were also recognized for achieving a cumulative 4.0 GPA.
