IRVING, Texas – Jessica McAllister has been named the Big 12 Co-Horsemanship Rider of the Month for March. The freshman went 4-1-1 with five of the six rides coming on unfamiliar horses.
"Jessica continues to make us proud each and every day for her spirit and growth in what little time she has spent on campus," Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield said. "She comes with a wanting to get better each time at practice, she helps her teammates improve with her positive energy and yearning to succeed. She has all these admirable traits and she is only a freshman; we are really excited to see where she grows to in the next few years."
McAllister earned a pair of Most Outstanding Performer awards in the month with her first coming in a neutral site matchup against Fresno State that she won 76-67, the accolade was also the first in her collegiate career. She followed that up a week later at Oklahoma State turning in a 75.5-74.5.
While the Frogs were on unfamiliar horses for five of the six rides in March, that did not deter McAllister who averaged a 75.75 in these rides which is especially impressive given the short duration between meets that was brought on by the cancelled fall season.
McAllister and the rest of the Horned Frogs will be back in action next Thursday, April 15, as they take on No. 3 Georgia in the first round of the NCEA National Championship in Waco, Texas at the Extraco Event Center.
