Krob strikes out career-high 10
NORMAN, Okla. – TCU extended its winning streak to a season-high eight games with a dominating 17-6 victory over Oklahoma Saturday afternoon. Austin Krob put together a career-day on the mound and the offense backed him up with 17 runs on 18 hits. Gray Rodgers and Brayden Taylor homered for the Horned Frogs.
The Rundown
Austin Krob (4-0) took the mound with a six run lead. After battling out of a bases-loaded, nobody out situation in the first, he was nearly unhittable. The lefty retired 16 in a row to get the game into the seventh. He allowed a hit and a walk in the seventh, but a double play ended the inning. Krob's final line saw him allow a run on three hits, with one walk and a career-high 10 strikeouts.
TCU had a 4-0 lead before the first out was recorded in the game. Zach Humphreys singled home the first two runs of the afternoon. Gene Wood followed with a two-run double and scored on Gray Rodgers' one-out home run.
Brayden Taylor delivered a two-run blast of his own in the second to make it an 8-1 ballgame.
After being held off the board in the third, TCU struck for multiple runs in the next three inning to increase the lead. Wood picked up another two-run double in the third. In the fourth, RBIs from Elijah Nunez and Luke Boyers made it a 12-1 game. Three more runs scored in the fifth. With the bases loaded, Phillip Sikes singled and Tommy Sacco drew a walk. Nunez picked up his second RBI of the game with a groundout.
The Frogs final two runs of the game came home in the eighth on a two out, two run double from Boyer for a 17-1 lead.
Oklahoma scored five runs in its final two at-bats to account for the final score.
