
TCU Falls to Georgia in NCEA Championship

WACO, Texas – The sixth-ranked TCU equestrian team fell to third-ranked Georgia, 10-6, Thursday afternoon in the first round of the NCEA National Championship at the Extraco Event Center.

"Today was a good day for the Frogs, it may not have finished the way we wanted it to, but this group that is very young and there was a lot that they hadn't seen before. Getting back to nationals from last year was a blessing itself and I think this group will have a fire and a yearning to make it happen."
THE RUNDOWN
The day started with a split between the Frogs and Georgia in Horsemanship. Jessica McAllister opened the meet with a point scoring a 226 on Vegas. Anna Hauter collected the second point in her final ride in a TCU uniform, narrowly passing UGA's Taylor Burgess on Bently, 224-223.
Jacey Albaugh picked up the Frogs only point in Flat with a 230-212 win over Nora Andrews on Sunny. The Bulldogs won the event 3-1.
After halftime, action resumed in the Pavilion where the Frogs and Bulldogs split, 2-2. Alex Beneson put together another successful ride in the event winning 237-221. Isabella Baxter carded the highest score for TCU with a 244 on Copa to top Hayley Mairano's 236.
The Frogs finished in Reining where they could only muster one point, a 208.5-204 victory for Shea Graham on Otis over Caitlin Lyons.
NOTES
- The Frogs concluded its 2021 season that was shortened to the spring only due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The National Championship was hosted at the Extraco Event Center for the last time as the Championship will be moving to Florida starting next season.
- Isabella Baxter and Alex Beneson tied for the team lead in wins on the season as both picked up their ninth win in Fences this afternoon.
- Baxter has now shown in 40 rides in Fences and amassed 25 wins.
- Senior Anna Hauter won her seventh ride of the season in her final ride as a Horned Frog.
