Humphreys and Wood each drive in four runs
The Rundown
Austin Krob (2-0) was outstanding in a starting role. He allowed just one run on two hits, walked three and struck out a career-high nine batters. He faced more than four batters in an inning only once and saw the minimum in three of his six innings.
TCU capitalized on a two out error in the first and turned it into a 2-0 lead. Porter Brown scored on the miscue and Conner Shepherd doubled the lead with a base hit to drive in Zach Humphreys.
Louisiana cut the deficit in half with a run in the fourth, but Brayden Taylor restored the two run advantage with a one out home run in the sixth. With two outs, Shepherd singled and Phillip Sikes walked. Gene Wood came through with a two run triple to extend the TCU lead to four, 5-1.
Another four runs crossed the plate for TCU in the seventh. The Frogs were aided by four walks and a hit batter. Humphreys hustled down the line to beat out a potential double play ball to drive in the first run of the frame. Sikes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in another run. Wood singled home the final two runs of the inning for a 9-1 lead.
TCU struck for four more runs in the eighth highlighted by a three run blast to left from Humphreys.
Louisiana hit a three run home run in the bottom of the eighth to account for the final score.
Stat of the Game:
11 – TCU drew nine walks, was hit by a pitch once and had a batter reach on an error for 11 free bases in the game. Eight of those free base runners came around to score for the Horned Frogs.

With the victory, TCU improves to 12-7 on the season. The rubber match of the series is set for Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Frogs will send Johnny Ray to the mound in a game that will be televised on ESPN+.
