Avila, Hodges-Tomlinson Named AP First-Team All-Big 12

TCU center and cornerback recognized by conference media
FORT WORTH -- TCU center Steve Avila and cornerback Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson are first-team selections on the Associated Press All-Big 12 Football Team, voted on by media covering the conference.
Avila started 11 of 12 games and anchored an offensive line that paved the way for TCU to rank among the Big 12 leaders in total offense at 435.8 yards per game.
Hodges-Tomlinson is First-Team AP All-Big 12 for the second straight season. He's also a two-time First-Team All-Big 12 pick by the conference head coaches. Despite teams consistently throwing away from him, he had a team-best seven pass breakups and two forced fumbles while tying for the TCU lead with two interceptions, including one returned 29 yards for a touchdown in a 52-31 win at Texas Tech. He was sixth on the team with 43 tackles, more than his first two seasons combined (34). Exclusively a cornerback in his TCU career, Hodges-Tomlinson moved to safety midway through the Texas game when TCU became thin at the position. He responded with a career-high nine tackles while also forcing a fumble.
