
Five Horned Frogs Earn All-Region Accolades

All five were named to the first-team
FORT WORTH - Five members of the Big 12 Champion women's soccer team were recognized as first-team All-Midwest Region performers by the United Soccer Coaches Association.
Earning recognition this season were: Gracie Brian, Messiah Bright, Lauren Kellett, Brandi Peterson and Jenna Winebrenner. The honor is the first for Brian, Kellett and Winebrenner, while Peterson was recognized for the second straight year and Bright for the fourth time.
Brian put together a strong junior campaign. She was tied for third on the team with a career-high 28 points. One of six Horned Frogs to have played in and started all 24 games, Brian tallied nine goals and 10 assists. She recorded three game-winners and played the entirety of nine games over the course of the season. She ranked third on the team with 2,028 minutes on the field. Highlighting her campaign was a hat trick in the NCAA Tournament first round win over Prairie View A&M.
Bright rewrote the single-season offensive record book for the Horned Frogs in 2021. She became TCU's first-ever 40-point scorer, tallying a school-record 17 goals and adding six assists on the year. Additionally, she completed her climb to the top of the career records and now owns the school-record for goals with 39 and points with 92. Her efforts on the pitch earned her first-team all-Big 12 honors. Twice she was named the Big 12 Player of the Week during the regular season. She was also key to TCU's run to the Big 12 Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. She was named the Big 12 Tournament's Offensive Most Outstanding Player. In the NCAA Tournament, Bright scored a hat trick in the second round double overtime win over Princeton.
Kellett has limited opponents to 14 goals and combined for 13 shutouts this season. She set a school record with 10 individual shutouts this season. The 10 shutouts are tied for the seventh-most in the NCAA this season. The sophomore totaled 85 saves over 24 games this season. She ranks eighth nationally in goals against average (0.56) and fourth in save percentage (.867). Kellett was a first-team all-Big 12 Conference performer and earned Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honors once.
The 2021 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Peterson has anchored the TCU defense, earning five Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week awards. The Atlanta senior logged over 2,100 minutes on the pitch for the Frogs this season and was instrumental in helping TCU set a school record with 13 shutouts. She played the entirety of 17 matches this season. Offensively, she contributed two goals, including one game-winner, and five assists for nine points. TCU was one of the top defensive squads nationally this year, ranking ninth in goals against average (0.56) and fifth in save percentage (0.864).
Winebrenner made an immediate impact on the team after transferring to TCU from Notre Dame this season. She played in and started all 24 games this season. She ranked second on the team with 2,096 minutes played and was on the field for the entirety of 18 matches. She was instrumental in helping TCU notch a school-record 13 shutouts this season. The Horned Frogs allowed just 14 goals all season. Offensively, the senior contributed a trio of assists.
