
Duo Earn Big 12 Weekly Accolades

Bright and Peterson recognized by the league
FORT WORTH – Fresh off of winning its second straight Big 12 regular season champion, TCU's Messiah Bright and Brandi Peterson were honored by the league as the Big 12 Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. The accolade is the second of the season for Bright and the fifth for Peterson.
Bright tallied a late goal in the 85th minute to give TCU the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Soccer Championship. With three shots, two on goal, Bright secured two points in the match which moved her into second all-time in program history with 77.
Peterson was instrumental in helping TCU complete its 10th shutout of the season, matching its school record. The Atlanta native led the Horned Frog defense through all 90 minutes in limiting Texas Tech to eight shots, three on goal, and just one corner kick. TCU kept the Red Raiders from recording a shot throughout the final 37 minutes of the match.
TCU (15-2-1, 7-1-1) is ranked as high as No. 6 in the polls. The Horned Frogs will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament slated to begin Sunday, Oct. 31 at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas. TCU will face the tournament's No. 8 seed, Iowa State at 11:30 a.m. All quarterfinal games will be televised by Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
