
Rifle Heads To Army For Triangular Meet

Horned Frogs are undefeated this season
FORT WORTH - The No. 3 TCU women's rifle team will continue its fight to stay undefeated when they travel to West Point, N.Y. to compete against Army and Akron on Saturday.
TCU sits second nationally in team aggregate average (4,717.3). TCU's season average of 2,377 in air rifle ranks second, while its 2,340 in smallbore is third. TCU has fired two of the top seven aggregate scores in the nation this season.
In their last match, the Horned Frogs shot a smallbore score of 2,344 and an air rifle score of 2,376. The team finished with seven of the top 10 shooters from the match at The Citadel.
Stephanie Grundsoee led the team in smallbore with a career-high mark of 596. She currently sits second in individual smallbore average at 590.3. Kristen Hemphill and Nina Schuett both shot 583 in smallbore last weekend, tying for second in the discipline. Hemphill is currently ranked 13th with her smallbore average of 585.3.
In air rifle, Grundsoee leads the team and ranks fourth nationally with a season average of 595.7. Stephanie Allan and Hemphill are tied for 10th nationally with their individual averages at 594.0. Allan beat her career high in center shots (596-55x) in air rifle last week. Freshman Anne White continued her impressive start as a Horned Frog, shooting a career and season-high 596 in air rifle at The Citadel. She ranks in the top 20 nationally with a 592.7 season average.
Senior Abigail Gordon and junior Grace Taschuk have both served as counters in all three matches so far this season. Last weekend, Gordon fired a season high in smallbore (580) and Taschuk contributed to the team's score with an aggregate mark of 1,159.
Army has only competed in one match this season. The team fell to Nebraska last weekend, 4,677 to 4,626. Lauren McMahan led her team with an aggregate score of 1,159, finishing third overall in the match.
Akron is 2-1 on the season with wins against Navy and Memphis and a loss to Ole Miss. The Zips are led by Andre Gross, who currently ranks 26th in individual average aggregate score.
The match is set to being at 8 a.m. CT at Tronsrue Marksmanship Center.
