FORT WORTH – Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, Kendre Miller, Steve Avila, Andrew Coker, Brandon Coleman, Obinna Eze, and Coy McMillon of football, Dani Dennison of volleyball, and Brandi Peterson of soccer, have all been named TCU Student-Athletes of the week, presented by Bob's Steak and Chop House.
Dennison, a first-year graduate student from Huntington Beach, Calif., had a weekend for the record books as she helped lead the frogs to a 3-2 win over OU. The California native recorded her 1,441st dig as a frog, setting the program record, which was previously held by Calli Corley. Dennison has also led the team in digs for the past three seasons, a position she is on track to keep in 2021.
Volleyball will be back in action Oct. 14 and 15 for a pair of road matches against the Texas Longhorns. Both matches will tip off at 7 p.m. at Gregory Gymnasium in Austin, Texas and will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network.
Peterson, a senior from Atlanta, Ga. is having an outstanding senior season. For the sixth time in her career and third time this season she has been named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. The senior has started every game this season and recorded a total of 6,095 minutes on the pitch over the course of her career as a Horned Frog.
The soccer team heads to Morgantown, W. Va. tomorrow to continue their Big 12 play with a game against the West Virginia Mountaineers. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. and will be available on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
The football team had a blow-out weekend in Lubbock as they beat Texas Tech, 52-31. Hodges-Tomlinson, a junior from Waco, Texas, recorded his career first pick-six and was awarded Big-12 defensive player of the week for his performance. Miller ran for a career-high total of 185 yards and notched three touchdowns. The sophomore from Mount Enterprise, Texas also had a total of 12 carries including a 75-yard carry that was the second-longest of his career. The offensive line worked overtime in the trenches, preventing Texas Tech from recording any quarterback sacks and allowing the offense to record a whooping 394 rushing yards. The starters included Avila, a junior from Grand Prairie, Texas, Coker, a sophomore from Katy, Texas, Coleman, a sophomore from Denton, Texas, Eze, a senior from Nashville, Tenn. and McMillon, a senior from Abilene, Texas.
Football hits the road again this weekend as they head to Norman, Okla. to face Oklahoma on Saturday. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. on ABC.
