Hughes, in his 11th season, is the longest tenured TCU player in the NFL
FORT WORTH -- Twenty-one TCU players are on NFL rosters as its season begins Thursday night.
The Horned Frogs' five draft picks in 2020 led the Big 12 and were the most by any program in the state of Texas. Additionally, five other players signed free-agent contracts.
TCU had a pair of first-round selections in wide receiver Jalen Reagor (Philadelphia Eagles) and cornerback Jeff Gladney (Minnesota Vikings). With defensive tackle Ross Blacklock (Houston Texans) going in the second round and offensive tackle Lucas Niang (Kansas City Chiefs) in the third round, TCU had three players selected in the first 40 picks and four in the top 96.
TCU's five draft picks tied for the second-most (2016, 2011, 2009) under Head Coach Gary Patterson, trailing only the 2001 class which had six selections. Patterson has had 53 NFL Draft picks with 129 players in NFL camps.
Two-time consensus first-team All-American and Buffalo Bill Jerry Hughes, set to begin his 11th season, is the longest tenured Horned Frog in the NFL.
The Indianapolis Colts top the NFL with three Horned Frogs (Darius Anderson, Ben Banogu, Joey Hunt) on their roster.
