TCU volleyball begins its 25th season on Oct. 2 at Baylor
FORT WORTH – TCU volleyball will play a 16-match schedule this fall, comprised of two matches against each of the Big 12 Conference opponents, the conference office announced today.
The season will consist of two matches per weekend against the same opponent, in the same location, as opposed to the Wednesday and Saturday, home-and-home format of year's prior.
The Horned Frogs will host matches against Texas Tech, Kansas, Texas and Iowa State while traveling on the road for two matches each against Baylor, West Virginia, Oklahoma and Kansas State.
TCU's eight home matches will be played in TCU volleyball's new home, Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. The move allows for increased capacity and improved fan experience, while adhering to the necessary health and safety guidelines put in place for the 2020 fall season.
"Our team is excited to kick off the 25th season of TCU volleyball and begin our inaugural season in Schollmaier Arena," TCU Head Coach Jill Kramer said. "We celebrate the opportunity to play each match in there this season. The last few months have been a new challenge for everyone in college athletics and we're grateful for the opportunity to be able to compete in our conference schedule, keep our rivalries alive and fight for a Big 12 title."
The Horned Frogs return six of seven starters from the NIVC semifinal team in 2019 including unanimous Big 12 preseason first-team selection Katie Clark at middle blocker and 2019 Big 12 All-Rookie Julia Adams at outside hitter. Clark was awarded preseason all-conference first team honors earlier this summer after earning All-Big 12 second team and All-NIVC team honors last season. TCU was selected fifth in the preseason conference coaches' poll.
TCU opens the season with a weekend at Baylor, fresh off of its 2019 Final Four appearance. The program's first match in Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena will take place on Oct. 8, against Texas Tech. Horned Frog fans will be able to see two of the Big 12's NCAA Tournament teams from last season when Texas (Oct. 30 & 31) and Iowa State (Nov. 20 & 21) visit Fort Worth later in the season.
