Senior guard earns fourth postseason award
FORT WORTH – TCU senior guard Desmond Bane picked up another postseason award Monday when he was named NABC Second Team All-District 8.
The awards were voted on by members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. It was the first-career NABC honor for Bane, who has already been named All-Big 12 by the league coaches and the Associated Press as well as USBWA All-District VII.
The Richmond, Ind., native ranked second in the conference with a scoring average of 16.6 points per game. He ranked seventh in assists (3.9) and 10th in rebounding (6.4), the only player that ranked in the top 10 in the Big 12 in points, rebounds and assists.
Bane was the league's best 3-point shooter with an accuracy of 44.2 percent and 2.9 made 3-pointers per game, both tops in the Big 12. He scored 20 or more points 12 times, the most in the conference, and was one of eight Big 12 players to score 30 or more points in a game this season when he scored 30 in a win over George Mason on Dec. 30.
Bane, who was the Big 12 Player of the Week on March 2, ranks third all-time at TCU with 1,768 points, third with 659 field goals, eighth with 132 steals, fifth by shooting 43.3 percent from 3-point range and first with 249 3-pointers made. No TCU player has played in as many games (141) or won as many games (84) as Bane.

The first team members were Udoka Azubuike (Kansas), Jared Butler (Baylor), Devin Dotson (Kansas), Jahmi'us Ramsey (Texas Tech) and Oscar Tshiebwe (West Virginia).
