Luongo completes the TCU volleyball staff as the assistant coach
FORT WORTH -- TCU volleyball head coach Jill Kramer finalized her coaching staff with the hiring of Kyle Luongo as assistant coach of the TCU volleyball program.
I am excited to round out our staff with Kyle Luongo," Kramer said. "Like Eysha, Kyle's reputation in volleyball precedes him and his values align with that of TCU and our volleyball program. While he was at Pepperdine, we recruited many of the same student-athletes and he was highly regarded by those prospects. He is an outstanding teacher of the game and embodies a fresh and energetic vibe in the gym, which our players will thrive on."
Luongo joins the Horned Frogs staff after spending five seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Pepperdine (2014-2018). While at Pepperdine, he recruited two nationally ranked classes in just five years and helped his team reach the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2018.
He familiarized himself with Texas this past season as the assistant director at the Austin Skyline Juniors Volleyball Club in Austin, Texas.
"I'm very thankful to Jill Kramer as my family and I step into this incredible opportunity to join the TCU family," Luongo said. "Shortly after meeting her, as well as the team, I knew this was a place I could call home. The team is passionate, determined and enjoys one another and I'm stoked to join and represent such an elite University. Go Frogs!"
Luongo spent the 2013 season as a volunteer assistant coach at Michigan, where he helped coach the team to its 14th NCAA tournament berth. Jennifer Cross, Lexi Dannemiller and Molly Toon were all awarded AVCA All-American honorable mention in his season with the Wolverines.
As a student-athlete, Luongo was the starting setter for Pierce College from 2006-07. He led the squad to the state finals as a freshman and followed with a semifinal appearance during his sophomore year. He transferred to Pepperdine prior to the 2008 season, where he was a part of three Top-5 teams.
Luongo graduated from Pepperdine in 2010 with a degree in sports medicine. He brings his wife, Melissa, and two daughters, Hannah and Harper, to Fort Worth.
