
Longmire Garners Silver Medal, Castillo Breaks School Record in Ames

AMES, Iowa — TCU track and field wrapped up day one of Big 12 Championship competition on Friday.
Silver Medal
Senior Destiny Longmire garnered a silver medal in the long jump (6.39m).
Frogs on the Podium
In just his second collegiate long jump appearance, Chengetayi (Du) Mapaya placed 5th with a jump of 7.43m.
Adam McAdoo became the first TCU pole vaulter to score at the Big 12 Championship. The Fort Worth native cleared 5.02 (16-5 1/2) and finished in 6th place.
Record Breaker
Mariah Castillo broke Rebecca Allison's 800m school record from 1986. The sophomore clocked in at 2:09.64.
She joins fellow teammates Jill Johnson (high jump) and Tysen Townsend (pole vault) as 2020 TCU record breakers.
Men's 60m
TJ Brock ran a 6.67, the top time in the 60m prelim.
Men's 400m
Derrick Mokaleng's 46.56 checked in as the fastest time in the 400m prelims.
Horned Frog Debut
Ethan Brown ran a 47.40 in the 400m in his Horned Frog debut. He joins Derrick Mokaleng in the 400m finals tomorrow.
Men's 200m
Two Frogs qualified for the 200m final. Both Tinotenda Matiyenga (21.25) and Simbarashe Maketa (21.29) won their heats.
Men's 600y
Jostyn Andrews turned in a season-best 1:10.33 and qualified for the 600y final.

The 2020 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championship concludes tomorrow.
