Hodges-Tomlinson, Moehrig and Wallow are first-team selections
FORT WORTH -- The Associated Press has named six TCU players to its All-Big 12 Football Team.
Cornerback Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, safety Trevon Moehrig and linebacker Garret Wallow are first-team selections, while defensive end Ochaun Mathis, punter Jordy Sandy and offensive tackle T.J. Storment are second-team picks.
Hodges-Tomlinson leads the Big 12 and is second nationally with 13 pass breakups. He was also a first-team All-Big 12 selection by the conference head coaches and a first-team All-American by Pro Football Focus.
Moehrig is one of three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, presented to the nation's top defensive back. He is also an ESPN All-American. Moehrig's 11 passes defended trail only Hodges-Tomlinson (13) in the Big 12. He has two interceptions and nine PBUs while placing third on the Horned Frogs with 47 tackles. He had the game-saving pick with a one-handed snag in the end zone in TCU's 29-22 win over No. 15 Oklahoma State on Dec. 5.
Wallow tops the Big 12 and is tied for 20th nationally with 90 tackles, including 9.0 for loss with 3.0 sacks. His three forced fumbles are tied for the Big 12 lead and fifth in the country.
Moehrig and Wallow are first-team selections for the second straight season.
Mathis is second in the Big 12 and tied for fourth nationally with 9.0 sacks, just 1.0 off the lead. His 14.0 tackles for loss are 11th in the FBS. Additionally, he is fourth on TCU with 46 stops.
Sandy is third in the Big 12 with a 41.0 average, the highest by a Horned Frog since 2012. Twenty-four of his 57 punts have gone inside the 20-yard line, including 10 inside the 10, with just three touchbacks.
Storment has started the last seven games at left tackle.
