Junior wide receiver is on pace to break the TCU season record for punt return average
IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference has announced TCU's Derius Davis as its Co-Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 34-18 win over Texas Tech.
Davis had four punt returns for 103 yards against the Red Raiders. His returns of 20 and 50 yards set up TCU scores.
A junior from Saint Francisville, La., Davis is second nationally with a 21.8-yard punt return average, a mark on pace to break the TCU season record of 20.8 set last year by Jalen Reagor.
Davis had a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown at Baylor and has two career returns for scores on just 10 attempts.
Davis also leads TCU with three special teams tackles in addition to being tied for fifth on the team with seven receptions.
