Horned Frogs will hit the practice field for the first time Friday
FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU football team begins its preseason camp Thursday.
Thursday's itinerary starts with a 10:30 a.m. NCAA Compliance meeting. TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson, coordinators and select players will then participate in a media luncheon and availability. The afternoon and evening schedule includes physicals, equipment disbursement and team meetings.
The Horned Frogs will hit the practice field for the first time Friday at 5 p.m. Classes at TCU begin Monday, Aug. 26.
TCU is picked fourth in the 2019 Big 12 Media Preseason Poll. The last two times the Horned Frogs were picked fourth or lower, they won a Big 12 Championship (2014) and played in the Big 12 Championship Game (2017).
TCU, which holds the Big 12's longest active winning streak at three games, returns 12 starters (five defensive, seven offensive) in 2019.
Over the last five seasons, TCU's 47-19 overall record and 30-15 conference mark rank second in the Big 12.
TCU is one of just six programs nationally to finish with an Associated Press top-10 final ranking in at least three of the last five years (2014, 2015, 2017).
The season opener is Aug. 31 at home versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Following an open date, TCU will travel to Purdue for a Sept. 14 game.
