FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU senior Amy Okonkwo has been named to the WNIT All-Tournament Team after averaging 20.4 points and 9.8 rebounds in the Horned Frogs' five-game run to the semifinals.
Okonkwo finished her TCU career by playing some of her best basketball, recording double-doubles in each of the last three games of the season. Her best effort came in a third-round road victory at Arkansas when she exploded for a career-high 36 points and 14 rebounds, shooting 10-of-21 from the field and a near-perfect 12-of-13 from the free-throw line.
The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native followed that up with a 20-point, 13-rebound performance at home against Cincinnati in the quarterfinals, before closing out her collegiate career with an impressive 22-point, 11-rebound effort in TCU's semifinal game at Arizona.
Okonkwo was needed for just five points in limited minutes in the team's opening round win over Prairie View A&M and also finished with 19 points and eight rebounds in a second-round triumph over UT Arlington.
A three-year player for the Horned Frogs after transferring from USC, Okonkwo ends her TCU career with the sixth-highest scoring average in school history with 13.11 points per game.
She also ranks ninth with 606 career rebounds, 10th all-time in both career points (1,324) and field-goal percentage (.479), and finishes as the second-most accurate free-throw shooter in program history, making 85.0 percent from the charity stripe.
