
TCU Comes Up Short In Sunday Loss

Watson, Guenther and Oviedo double for the Frogs
FORT WORTH – Seton Hall avoided a series sweep as it handed No. 19 TCU a 7-3 loss on Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. Adam Oviedo had three hits, including a double, in the loss.

The Rundown
A hustle double from Josh Watson in the first was key to an early 1-0 lead for the Frogs. He was standing on third with two outs when a balk was called.

Seton Hall took its first lead of the afternoon in the second, scoring twice on three hits and an error. After a lead-off double, Alex Clyde tied the game with a base hit. An errant pick-off throw allowed Clyde to score for a 2-1 Pirate lead.

TCU tied the game in the third. Adam Oviedo opened the inning with a base hit and was on third with one out. On a fielder's choice, the third baseman tried to cut down Oviedo at the plate. He was initially called out, but upon review, was ruled safe for a 2-2 ballgame.

The Pirates picked up a two-out run in the fourth to regain the lead, 3-2, and never looked back. A three-spot in the sixth pushed the advantage to four, 6-2. In the inning, Seton Hall batted around and scored twice with two outs.

TCU picked up its final run in the seventh on a two-out Oviedo double that scored Austin Henry. The Pirates restored their four-run lead with a run in the eighth to account for the final score.

Brandon Williamson (3-2) took the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits over five innings. He struck out four and walked two. Augie Mihlbauer pitched 1 1/3 scoreless and Matt Rudis pitched in with a scoreless inning of relief.Â
