Mootz garners another Big 12 award
IRVING, Texas – Junior Josie Mootz was named Horsemanship Rider of the Month for February following a stellar month of action.
Mootz is no stranger to awards from the Big 12, having been named to the Big 12 Rookie All-Academic team and a First-Team All-Academic team recipient by the NCEA. This time it's for her efforts in the ring.
Mootz went undefeated in the month of November in her four meets. She earned one Most Outstanding Performer award at Oklahoma State winning 76-73.5 on Rudy. Her best performance of the month came against South Carolina where she recorded a 78 to top the 76.5 earned by the Gamecocks.
Mootz faced stiff competition all month long with the average score being a 72.5, and to compound matters, three of the four meets took place on the road.
Mootz and the Horned Frogs will conclude their regular season this Saturday when they host SMU on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Turning Point Ranch.
