
Bruner Keys TCU's Opening Round in the Dominican Republic

TCU junior is 2 under par and tied for 6th individually
LA ROMANA, Dominican Republic -- Greta Bruner carded a second-round 68 as the No. 18 TCU women's golf team is in sixth place after Friday's opening two rounds of the Tar Heel Classic in La Romana, Dominican Republic.
The 15-team field includes eight ranked programs.
Bruner, the recipient of back-to-back Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month awards, birdied four of her opening six holes and finished with five birdies for a 4-under-par 68. It was her fourth sub-70 round of the year, all in her last eight rounds. At 2-under 142, she is tied for sixth individually and seven strokes off the pace set by Wake Forest's Jennifer Kupchowho.
Bruner recorded par on 16 holes in posting a first-round 74.
Annika Clark's opening-round 70 included five birdies with four coming in a six-hole stretch. She had birdies on back-to-back holes in the second round.
Sabrina Iqbal had a birdie with par on 15 holes en route to a second-round 73. The freshman from San Jose, Calif., had three birdies on the day.
Grace Do totaled three birdies. Valeria Pacheco's opening-round 73 included three birdies over the final five holes on the front nine and four birdies overall.

"Teeth of the Dog is one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses I have ever had the opportunity to see," TCU head women's golf coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. "There is nothing like it! We played okay as a team today and had some players with rounds of brilliance as well as a couple we need to improve on. We finished our 36-hole day strong, though and are ready for a great round tomorrow."
