FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU track and field will open the 2019 outdoor season at home as the program hosts the TCU Invitational on Saturday, March 16.
MEET INFO
The meet will start at 9:30 a.m. with the discus throw and the running events will start at 2 p.m. with the men's 3000-steeplechase. TCU will host Big 12 schools Kansas State and Oklahoma, as well as UT-Arlington, Northwestern State, and Barton County.

INDOOR RECAP
The Horned Frogs qualified four entries to the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend in Birmingham, Ala., with all four leaving the meet as First-Team All-Americans. In the men's triple jump, Chengetayi Mapaya earned his second NCAA bronze medal of his career, while Derrick Mokaleng finished with his second-consecutive 400-meter First-Team honor. TCU's 4x400 relay, consisting of Mokaleng, Darrion Flowers, Tinotenda Matiyenga, and Emmanuel Ogwo, also finished with back-to-back indoor First-Team honors with a seventh-place finish in Birmingham. In her first season as a Horned Frog, San Jose State transfer Destiny Longmire finished fourth at the NCAA meet in the long jump.
At the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Lubbock, TCU had a trio of conference champions, as well as a pair of runner-ups. All-Americans Mapaya and Longmire won the triple jump and long jump respectively, while newcomer Lily Beckford won the 600-yard. In the men's 600-yard, Mokaleng finished second with the second-fastest time in collegiate history. TCU's 4x400 relay also placed second.
LAST YEAR'S OUTDOOR SEASON
TCU sent five entries in four events to the NCAA Outdoor Championships: Mokaleng in the 400m, Mapaya and Scotty Newton in the triple jump, and both the 4x100 and the 4x400 relays. Newton and Mapaya left the meet as First-Team All-Americans with fourth and fifth-place finishes. The program also sent 19 entries in 13 events to the NCAA West Regional meet and at the conference meet, TCU had a pair of conference champions in the triple jump (Newton) and 4x400 relay.
