Horned Frogs use a final-round surge to finish 4th at the ICON Invitational
THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Led by Greta Bruner's final-round 68 which enabled her to tie a TCU record 54-hole score of 210, the No. 19 TCU women's golf team had a final-round surge Tuesday to finish in fourth place at the ICON Invitational in The Woodlands, Texas.
The Horned Frogs shot a 4-under-par 284 and placed just five strokes behind host Houston for the team championship. TCU was at 1-under 575 over the final 36 holes, tying the Cougars for the low score in the final two rounds.
Bruner was the individual runner-up with her career best 6-under 210. She now shares the TCU 54-hole record score with four others. The most recent to card a 210 was Emmy Martin at last year's Maryb S. Kauth Invitational. The junior from Conroe, Texas, just outside The Woodlands, had five birdies and shot par on 12 holes. She totaled 12 birdies for the tournament in posting the fifth top-10 result in her last 11 events.
Bruner finished just three strokes behind medalist Alice Hewson of Clemson.
Keyed by four birdies, Sabrina Iqbal had a final round even-par 72 to tie for ninth at 218. It was the third top-10 finish in the last five tournaments for the TCU freshman from San Jose, Calif.
Annika Clark had a pair of birdies and recorded par on 15 holes en route to a 1-under 71. Yeji Shin had three birdies in posting a 73.
