The Frogs added a trio of tallies in the third to open up a 5-0 lead. Josh Watson led off the frame with a double and scored on a Guenther double. Alex Isola followed with a two-run home run.
Grand Canyon put up a three spot in the fourth as it took advantage of a one-out error to pull within two. Preston Pavlica single home a run and David Avitia doubled home another run. A sacrifice fly from Marc Mumper brought home the final run of the inning.
In the bottom of the frame, TCU got a run back after Conner Shepherd, who doubled to open the inning, scored on a Watson sacrifice fly for a 6-3 lead.
A two-out, two-run pinch hit double from the Lopes in the seventh made it a one-run ballgame.
Grand Canyon almost tied the game in the eighth on a two-out double from Quin Cotton, but a perfect relay started by Andrew Keefer in right cut down the run at the plate. Guenther's relay throw was on the mark and Isola made the tag to end the inning.
