Guenther homers for the Frogs
FORT WORTH – Grand Canyon halted No. 16 TCU's three game winning streak with a 4-1 win on Friday night at Lupton Stadium. Nick Lodolo fanned 10 batters in the game.
The Rundown
Jake Guenther's solo home run to lead off the second opened the scoring as TCU took a 1-0 lead.
Grand Canyon answered with a Quin Cotton two-out solo home run in the third. Two innings later, Tyler Wyatt gave the Lopes a 2-1 lead with a one-out home run.
TCU had traffic on the bases in all but three innings, but each time the Lopes' pitching staff came up with the answer to get out of the jam. The Horned Frogs ultimately left seven runners on base.
In the eighth, the Lopes added a pair of runs to open up a three-run cushion, 4-1. A lead-off triple spurred the offensive outburst. Cotton collected his second RBI of the night and scored on a Pikai Winchester double.
Nick Lodolo (0-2) took the loss allowing just the two solo home runs on four hits over seven innings. He didn't walk a batter and struck out 10. Charles King and Cal Coughlin pitched the final two innings for the Frogs.
