
Brown Earns Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

Freshman hit .583 over the weekend
FORT WORTH – TCU baseball freshman Porter Brown has been named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for his performance in the MLB4 Tournament this past weekend.
The San Antonio native posted the second-best batting average in the league, hitting .583 (7-for-12) in the three games. He drove in TCU's first run of the season in the win over Virginia. Against the Cavaliers, he went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs in addition to stealing a pair of bases. Brown continued his blistering start to the season with two more hits against No. 1 Vanderbilt.
On the weekend, Brown hit safely in all three games. He reached base safely in nine of his last 11 plate appearances.
