Dear Horned Frogs Fans:
FORMER CITY RIVALS MEET AGAIN
It's always special when TCU and Baylor meet in any sport, especially football. In fact, our 114 games against the Bears are the most against any opponent in our football history. The series, which we lead 55-52-7, dates all the way back to 1899 when our campuses were both in Waco and we played to a scoreless tie.
We look forward to seeing you Saturday at 11 a.m. in Amon G. Carter Stadium with the same type of energy in the stands that provided a great home-field advantage for us in our last home game, the 37-27 win over Texas.
HEROES DAY
I am thrilled Saturday's game is Heroes Day and we will have the opportunity to show our gratitude to the brave men and women who serve our country and protect our communities. The planned recognitions and honors include the following:
•Fort Worth Fire Department having its new TCU Fire Truck on display in Frog Alley
•TCU alumni and active duty military special guests leading our team in Frog Walk
•100 volunteers, including veterans, active duty military and first responders holding a giant (75 feet x 150 feet) American Flag on the field pregame during the national anthem
•Special in-game recognitions of various heroes
Additionally, our annual TCU Cheer and Showgirls Spirit Extravaganza performance will have a Heroes Day theme.
IMPORTANT SHUTTLE PARKING NOTICE
Due to a scheduled event, the Travis Avenue Baptist Church lots will not be available for Saturday's football game.
The Doxology Bible Church on the corner of Hulen and Arborlawn will be the only free parking lot with a shuttle on Saturday. Pay lots are available with a complimentary shuttle at Paschal High School, University Baptist Church on Wabash Avenue, St. Stephen Presbyterian Church on McPherson Avenue and University United Methodist Church on West Berry Street.
OPERATION HAT TRICK
In keeping with our Heroes Day theme for Saturday, TCU supports Operation Hat Trick through the sale of co-branded merchandise. OHT generates awareness and support for the recovery of wounded service members and veterans. A portion of each sale from head wear, apparel and accessories is donated to those recovering from injuries. TCU OHT product is available online HERE and at the TCU Team Store in Amon G. Carter Stadium.
TICKET TRANSFER PROGRAMS
As a reminder, if you have tickets to any TCU home event and can't make the game, we have a variety of ticket transfer programs to ensure your seats will be used by family, friends and others, as well as through our new partnership with the Veterans Tickets Foundation and HOPE Farm. CLICK HERE to ensure your unused tickets find a good Purple home.

BEER SALES IN SCHOLLMAIER ARENA
As I'm sure you have heard, we will have beer available for purchase in Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena this season starting tonight with our 7 p.m. men's tip-off against Southwestern. We hope this addition adds to your overall fan experience! Please drink responsibly and be assured that we will have all appropriate safety protocols in place.
SCHOLLMAIER LIVE
Due to the unfortunate passing of Shaquille O'Neal's sister, our Schollmaier Live event featuring Shaq was canceled. With the event taking place so close to the start of our men's and women's basketball seasons, we were unable to reschedule the event. Our thoughts and prayers are with the O'Neal family.
HORNED FROGS EVERYWHERE
It's always an exciting time when you get that football/basketball season overlap. In fact, we have 11 of our 21 sports in competition over the next four days.
Congrats to Raegan Pebley and our women's basketball program on Tuesday's 66-61 win over Robert Morris in their season debut! Our men take the court tonight at 7 p.m. for their opener against Southwestern.
In addition to the start of basketball season and a Saturday 11 a.m. home football game with Baylor, we also have equestrian and swimming and diving at home on Friday. Equestrian hosts Oklahoma State at 10 a.m., while swimming and diving will face Incarnate Word at 5 p.m. For all our alums in Kansas City, make sure to support our soccer team Friday as it faces Texas Tech at 7 p.m. in the semifinals of the Big 12 Championship. Beach volleyball heads to New Orleans for a tournament, women's tennis is at LSU and our defending national champion and top-ranked rifle program travels to Murray State.
After our football game Saturday, make sure to stick around campus as we host Kansas in volleyball at 5 p.m. You can then come back the next day to see our women's basketball team face Cornell at 1 p.m.
NETWORKING NIGHT
Our annual Horned Frogs Networking Night through our student-athlete development office has become one of my favorite events of the year. We had over 80 employer networking mentors participate from areas ranging in business, law enforcement, non-profit, education, health care, entrepreneurial, engineering, fashion and STEM industries. The event benefited the professional development of the 229 junior, senior and graduate student-athletes in our program.
STUDENT-ATHLETE RECOGNITIONS
October was a great month for our student-athletes being recognized for their efforts.
Football's Max Duggan was named the Davey O'Brien Award's National Quarterback of the Week and Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after his performance in our 37-27 victory over Texas. Volleyball's McKenzie Nichols also received Big 12 Newcomer of the Week recognition, while equestrian's Raegan Rast was named the Big 12 and NCEA Fences Rider of the Month.
Soccer's Messiah Bright and Yazmeen Ryan were named First-Team All-Big 12, while Gracie Brian and Grace Collins were selected to the Big 12 All-Freshman Squad.
Football's Jonathan Song has been announced as a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, presented to the nation's top place-kicker.
Internally, we recognize TCU Student-Athletes of the Week as well as Scholar-Athletes of the Month. Please see below for our October recipients:
October 1 – Jalen Reagor (football) and Yazmeen Ryan (soccer)
October 8 – Gracie Brian (soccer) and Ashley Waggle (volleyball)
October 15 – Alex Beneson (equestrian) and Stephanie Grundsoee (rifle)
October 22 – Valeria Pacheco (women's golf) and Raegan Rast (equestrian)
October 29 – Max Duggan (football) and Messiah Bright (soccer)
Our October Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Month were David Bolisomi (football) and Messiah Bright (soccer).
FIST BUMP
This month's Fist Bump goes to Jaron Householder at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. Over the last five years, we've been replacing video boards across our various athletics facilities. The board at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center is our final one to complete the process. It has some age on it, and you can safely say Jaron has developed a special relationship with it. Over the last month, he has spent at least 15 hours as the point person in keeping the board operational until the new one was ready for installation. On behalf of men's and women's tennis coaches David Roditi and Lee Taylor Walker and their student-athletes, we can't thank Jaron enough for going that extra mile in the category of other duties as assigned.
DID YOU KNOW?
As we open the men's basketball season tonight against Southwestern, our head coach Jamie Dixon has a unique connection to our opponent from Georgetown, Texas. As a freshman guard for the Horned Frogs on Nov. 29, 1983, Jamie's first-ever collegiate basket and points came in an 82-81 overtime victory for us over Southwestern.
I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU
Whether it's through email (AthleticsDirector@tcu.edu), Twitter (@JDonati_TCU) or Instagram (JDonati_TCU), please feel free to always share feedback on our athletics program, experiences at home events, or if we can ever be of assistance.
