TCU graduate student is 15-of-16 on field goals
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- TCU's Jonathan Song has been announced as a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, recognizing the nation's top place-kicker.
A graduate student from Fort Worth, Song is 15-of-16 on field goals this season. He leads the Big 12 and is tied for fifth nationally with his 1.88 field goals per game. He is tied for fourth among active place-kickers nationally in career field-goal percentage at 88.9 (32-of-36), including 31-of-32 from 40 yards and in.
Song set a career high with five field goals against Arkansas-Pine Bluff to earn Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He was also a Lou Groza Award Star of the Week. The five field goals were one shy of the TCU and Big 12 single-game record of six held by his former teammate Jaden Oberkrom against Texas Tech in 2012.
TCU's Michael Reeder won the Lou Groza Award in 1995.
