Yazmeen Ryan; Messiah Bright named First-Team All-Big 12
FORT WORTH – Four members of the TCU women's soccer team were honored on the All-Big 12 team as voted upon by the league coaches. Yazmeen Ryan and Messiah Bright were named first-team performers, while Gracie Brian and Grace Collins were named to the Big 12 All-Freshmen squad.
This marks the second time in the Big 12 era that the Horned Frogs have had two named to the first team. In 2017, Katie Lund and Ryan Williams were selected to the first team. It's also the fourth time in program history for multiple first-team honorees joining Brenda DeRose and Sherry Dick (2000, WAC) and Allison Calleri and Jill Cook (1998, WAC).
Ryan is just the third Horned Frog in program history to twice be named to the first-team. She was named first-team all-conference in 2018 after earning second team honors as a freshman. She joins Jordan Calhoun (2008, 2010) and Bobbi Clemmer (2013, 2015) as the only two-time first-team honorees. Ryan has had a career season, setting personal bests in goals scored (7), assists (8) and points (22). She is third in the Big 12 with the eight assists and ninth in total points.
Bright has put together a career-year in her sophomore campaign. She became the first Frog since Jordan Calhoun in 2008 to score double-figure goals with a career-high 10. She has also contributed six assists for 26 points this season, a mark that ranks tied for fourth in the Big 12. She has contributed two game-winning goals and leads the team with 78 shots. The 26 points are the most by a Frog since Jordan Calhoun's 32 in 2008 and are tied for the second-most in program history.
Brian has put together the best freshman campaign since Jordan Calhoun in 2008. The Frisco, Texas native, has tallied nine goals and four assists for 22 points. Her nine goals rank sixth in the Big 12, while her five game-winning goals is tied for third in the league. She has played in and started all 19 games this season.
Collins ranks fourth on the team with 14 points. She has tallied three goals and co-leads the team with eight assists. Collins is tied for third in the Big 12 with the eight assists, a total that is tied for second in a single season at TCU. She has played in and started all 19 games.
