Senior named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention
IRVING, Texas – TCU senior Kianna Ray has earned Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Ray, a three-year letterwinner out of Austin, Texas, started in all 35 games TCU played in 2018-19, and will return to the court this season as the team's leading scorer having tallied 10.2 points per game a season ago.
Ray led the Frogs a year ago in minutes played (1,209), steals (66) and blocked shots (31). She also tallied a team-leading 142 assists, which ranks sixth-most in single-season school history. Her individual honors last season included being named to the San Diego State Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team and an Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection.
Ray has totaled 801 points in her career and is just 199 points away from becoming the 20th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. She heads into the upcoming season ranked No. 7 all-time in school history with 320 career assists and No. 5 overall with 90 blocked shots.
This marks the first Preseason All-Big 12 honor for Ray. She was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selectin following 2017-18 campaign.
Ray is one of eight letterwinners returning from last season's squad that went 24-11 overall and 10-8 in Big 12 play. The 10 league wins are the most since becoming a member of the Big 12 in 2012.
TCU opens the 2019-20 season on Tuesday, Nov. 5, hosting Robert Morris at noon. For ticket information, contact the TCU Athletics Ticket Office at (817) 257-FROG (3764) or visit GoFrogs.com.
