Safety is tied for the team lead with three interceptions
DALLAS -- TCU redshirt freshman safety Ar'Darius Washington has been named to the Midseason Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-America Watch List.
Washington is tied for the TCU lead in interceptions with three, already the most by a freshman in the 19-season head coaching tenure of Gary Patterson. Washington's three picks also tie for second-most in the nation by a freshman this year.
Washington's first interception this season came on the initial series of the opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, marking the first time since at least 1996 that TCU recorded a takeaway on its first defensive series of a season.He also had picks against SMU and Texas.
A native of Shreveport, La., Washington has played in all seven games with 16 tackles.
