TCU will return to action by hosting Lamar on Sunday.
FORT WORTH, Texas – After a week off, the TCU women's tennis team will return to action as the Horned Frogs are set to host Lamar on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m., at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
Admission is free for and fans in attendance can enjoy free pizza courtesy of Buffalo Bros., served in between doubles and singles action.
TCU Notables
TCU is 3-0 to start the season for the third time under the helm of head coach Lee Taylor Walker. The Horned Frogs opened the season with a 7-0 sweep of Abilene Christian before picking up a 6-1 win over McNeese State and then a 5-2 victory over New Mexico to wrap-up the opening week of action. Freshmen Mercedes Aristegui, Addy Guevara and Kate Paulus along with sophomore Aleksa Cveticanin all went undefeated in singles last week with 3-0 marks. Chloe Hule and Stevie Kennedy paired up to lead the team in doubles with two wins at the No. 2 spot.
Scouting the Cardinals
Lamar is 0-2 to start the season after dropping identical 6-1 losses to Houston and Rice in the team's opening week of action. Bianca Vitale was the only Cardinal to score wins in both matches as she went 2-0 at the No. 2 spot in singles with straight-set victories. In doubles, Jasmin Buchta and Amelie Vossgaetter scored the team's only victory at the No. 1 spot with a 6-4 win over the Rice pair.
All-Time Series
Sunday's match will be the eighth meeting all-time between TCU and Lamar with the Frogs perfect in the series at 7-0. The last time the teams met was back in January of 2012 in Fort Worth with TCU coming away with a 6-1 victory. Sunday's match will also be the sixth time the teams have faced off at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
