FORT WORTH - Preparations for the 2018 soccer season are well underway. Fresh off of back-to-back NCAA appearances, the expectations are at an all-time high for the soccer program.
The team is in the midst of a 16-day preseason camp that will include a pair of exhibition contests. In addition to training, the team will participate inteam-building exercises around the MetroPlex.
TCU returns 20 members from the 2017 squad and welcomes six newcomers to the field. The Frogs will have a tall task in replacing their top two scorers from a year ago, but have seven players returning that amassed five or more points on the season. Sophomore Yazmeen Ryan headlines the returners. She scored four goals and contributed five assists for 13 points in her rookie season.
The Frogs appear set in goal with the return of both keepers that saw time in 2018. Katie Lund was a first-team all-conference performer. She ranked second in the Big 12 with a 0.65 goals against average. Emily Alvarado will miss the bulk of preseason as she is the starting goalkeeper for Mexico's U-20 team at the FIFA World Cup in France. She made six appearances in her first season on campus.
The 2018 campaign gets under way on Aug. 17 when the Frogs host NCAA tournament participant Alabama at 7 p.m.
