The Rundown
ACU opened the scoring with an unearned run in the top of the first. Caleb Kyle was hit by a pitch to open the game and scored on a two-out ground out to put the Wildcats up 1-0.
The Frogs had their chances to tie the game with base runners in each of the first three innings but couldn't capitalize as they stranded five runners in those innings.
Abilene Christian added a two-out run in the fifth to open up a 2-0 lead. A double from Dalton Dunn brought home the runner from first.
TCU tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Coby Boulware opened the inning with a base hit. A walk to Zach Humphreys followed and Josh Watson was hit by a pitch to loaded the bases. Luken Baker worked a walk to make it a 2-1 game and A.J. Balta tied the game with a sacrifice fly. A two-out single from Johnny Rizer looked like it would put the Frogs in front, but a good throw from right cut down Watson trying to score.
Abilene Christian took advantage of its lone opportunity in extra innings to score a pair of runs. A hit batter followed by a walk and an error loaded the bases for the Wildcats in the top of the 11th with nobody out. Another hit batter with one out put Abilene Christian in front while a bases-loaded walk gave the Wildcats a two-run cushion, 4-2.
