TCU Scholar Athletes of the Month

Mokaleng, a sophomore business major, ran the 400m and 4X400m relay in three meets in February. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native ran anchor in the 4X400 relay in all three meets and helped TCU to three wins, including a win at the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championship. At the Texas Tech Shootout, TCU's 4X400m ran a school-record 3:04.25 mark, the eighth best collegiate mark of all time. Individually, Mokaleng picked up a win in the 400m at the Texas Tech Shootout (45.76) and finished second at the Big 12 Championship (46.47).
Omand, a senior communications major, rode in Equitation on the Flat and Equitation over Fences in all five of TCU's meets in February. The Sacramento, Calif., native went 6-3-1 in her 10 rides in the month, including a 4-0-1 mark on the Flat. She earned MOP honors for her 85-point Flat ride against Fresno State and her 82-point Fences ride against South Dakota State. Omand was named the Big 12 and NCEA Rider of the Month on the Flat as she led TCU to a 3-2 record in the month, moving the Frogs from No. 9 to No. 6 in the NCEA Top 10 Rankings.
In order to be considered for TCU Scholar Athlete of the Month, a student athlete must have at least a 3.0 GPA and make significant contributions to his/her team in competition.
